大学の紹介
1958年創立。当初はケネディ宇宙センターに勤務するエンジニアや科学者の養成・再教育の場として開校した。近郊には今も宇宙センターがあり、ディズニーランドは車で一時間ほどの距離。キャンパスは大西洋に面し、200種類ものヤシが植えられ、植物園もある南国的な雰囲気だ。理工系の専門大学としては南西部で最も小規模とされる。交通がやや不便なので学生の７割は車を持っている。学生は様々なバックグラウンドを持ち、約30％が少数派民族で形成され、州外からの学生は約40％。
