1893年創立。14校あるペンシルベニア州立大学のひとつ。213エーカーの広大な敷地内には大講堂を含む61の校舎と９つの学生寮が立ち並ぶ。人気の専攻は初等教育学、社会学、経営マネージメント学など。生物学系の学部が充実しており、DNA科学分析実験室があり、遺伝子型のサンプル抽出やデータ分析などの本格的な実験が体験できる。海洋科学の専攻があるのも特徴。学生の80％が州内出身者。
