大学の紹介
第二次大戦後の1946年創立。復員した兵士のための私立大学として、当時使用されていなかったテキサスの陸軍病院を改装し、校舎として大学が始まった。近年、女子学生の入学が増えてきてはいるものの、男子学生の割合が約70%と比較的高い。理数系に強く、人気の専攻はビジネス、工学、宇宙工学、数学、コンピュータサイエンスなど。教育学も人気があり、2005年度にはテキサス州の私立大学の中で最も多くの教職試験合格者を輩出した。入学者は10年連続で増加しており、テキサス州の大学の中で成長大学のひとつ。U.S. News and World Report誌のベストバリュー大学に選ばれている。宗教色が強く、週3回の教会での集会参加が必須。
