1891年創立。キリスト教自由メソジスト派によって設立された大学。キャンパスのあるワシントン州シアトル市市は全米で住みやすい都市のトップにランクされており、日本人にも人気がある。キャンパスはダウンタウンに近く、西海岸の文化や芸術、娯楽にふれる機会に恵まれている。その一方、キャンパス内は閑静で落ち着いた雰囲気を保ち、禁酒禁煙が厳しく守られている。人気の専攻は看護学、教育学、心理学など。学部段階ではキリスト教理念が反映された伝統的なリベラルアーツ教育を行っている。授業は少人数制で、出欠の管理も厳しい。教授陣は教育熱心できめ細やかな指導を期待でき、落ち着いて勉強に打ち込みたい学生には理想的な環境。私大には珍しく、7割以上の学生が地元ワシントン州出身。
